Selector Lever Cable - Column Shift: Removal

Prior to replacing the selector lever cable for a no start or high shift effort concern, verify the selector lever cable to bracket clip is fully seated at the transmission and selector lever assembly. Unseated cables can cause selector lever cable binding and prevent the manual shaft from completely returning to the P (Park) position.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Jacking and Lifting .
- 3.
Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column .
- 5.
Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever arm and the selector lever cable bracket.
- 11.NOTE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.
Rotate the cable adjustment lock upward and remove the selector lever cable from the manual control lever.

Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket and remove the selector lever cable.
