Transmission Range Control Module (TRCM): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. NOTE: When replacing the TRCM, it is necessary to initiate "Default to Park".

    Carry out the following steps to initiate "Default to Park".

    1. Remove the RH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
    2. Turn key on, engine off.
    3. Open driver's door and leave open.
    4. Shift the vehicle to R by pressing the R on the GSM.
    5. NOTE: Release the locking tab on the TRCM electrical connector before disconnecting.

      Disconnect the TRCM electrical connector and wait approximately 5 seconds until "Default to Park" initiates.

    6. Turn key off and close driver's door.

  3. Detach the selector lever cable from the TRCM lever.

  4. Remove the selector lever cable retaining clip bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  5. Release the tab and detach the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket.

  6. Remove the bolts and the TRCM.

    Torque: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
