Park Detect Switch: Removal
NOTE:
Wiring harness routing, pushpin location and electrical connector location and retention varies from selector lever to selector lever. Note the wiring harness routing and retention for installation reference.
All selector levers
- Remove the selector lever. Selector Lever
- Release the BSIA and position the selector lever in NEUTRAL.
- If equipped, remove the screw and the park detect switch cover.
- Disconnect the BSIA electrical connector.
- Disconnect the wiring harness pushpin.

Unloop the wires from the wire routing guide posts and, if necessary, disconnect the electrical connector retainer.
- Use the retainer tab release tool, which is included in the parking brake switch kit, to open the switch retainer tabs.

NOTE: Do not pull on the wires to remove the park detect switch. This may break the alignment posts. If an alignment post breaks, install a new selector lever assembly.NOTE: Be careful not to break the alignment posts during removal. If an alignment post breaks, install a new selector lever assembly.
Use a small screwdriver to pry the park detect switch from the selector lever assembly.
- Press gently and evenly on the alignment posts to push the park detect switch out.
- Gently pry between the park detect switch and the selector lever frame to remove the switch.
Selector levers with a SelectShift ® switch
- Use a screwdriver to release the locking tab on the wiring harness retainer or cut and discard the wire tie.
- Unlock the electrical connector pin alignment plate.
- Move the locking tabs outward.
- Slide the locking tabs into the electrical connector housing.
- Remove the SelectShift ® switch wires from the electrical connector.
- Yellow wire.
- Brown wire.
- Red wire.
All selector levers
- Remove the park detect switch and the wiring harness.
