Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition ON, the RCM sends messages to the SECM over the HS-CAN 2 and through the SASM. If the SECM does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the SECM sets a DTC. For information on the messages sent to the SECM by the RCM, refer to the Network Message Chart in the Description and Operation in appropriate Power Steering System article. 

SECM DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
U0151:00 Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module: No Sub Type Information Sets when the SECM detects any of the RCM messages is missing. This can be due to a RCM failure, a circuit failure on the HS-CAN2 or an excessive load on the network.
