Pinpoint Test I: DTC U0140:87

  1. I1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.
    • Is an observable symptom present? 
    1. Yes  : GO to I2.
    2. No  : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. I2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
    • Does the BCM pass the network test? 
    1. Yes  : GO to I3.
    2. No  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK , The BCM Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. I3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE RFA MODULE SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the RFA module self-test.
    • Is DTC U3003:62 recorded? 
    1. Yes  : GO to PINPOINT TEST K .
    2. No  : GO to I4.
  4. I4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
    • Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 
    1. Yes  : For DTC U3003:16, GO to PINPOINT TEST G .

      For DTC U3003:17, GO to PINPOINT TEST H .

    2. No  : GO to I5.
  5. I5 RECHECK THE RFA MODULE DTCs 
    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.
    • Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Repeat the RFA module self-test.
    • Is DTC U0140:87 still present? 
    1. Yes  : GO to I6.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. I6 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:87 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs. Repeat the BCM self-test.
    • Is DTC U0140:87 set in any other module? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No  : INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) MODULE .
