Overdrive Clutch Assembly: Disassembly

  1. Remove the roller bearing.

  3. Remove the overdrive clutch pack snap ring.

  5. Remove the overdrive clutch pack.

  7. If equipped, remove the overdrive clutch thrust washer.

  9. Using the special tool and a press, remove the overdrive clutch balance piston retaining ring.

  11. Remove the overdrive clutch balance piston.

  13. Remove the overdrive clutch return spring.

  15. Remove the overdrive clutch apply piston.

  17. Remove and discard the outer O-ring seal on the overdrive clutch balance piston.

  19. Remove and discard both the inner (one large and one small) O-ring seals on the overdrive clutch apply piston.

    NOTE: The roller bearing may stick to the forward clutch assembly.
  21. Remove and discard the 3 square cut seals and the roller bearing.
