Engine Front Cover, Timing Gears, Chain and Tensioners: Notes

- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the valve covers. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER LH or VALVE COVER RH .
- If removing the timing chains or gears, remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWER AND HYDRAULIC LASH ADJUSTER .
- Remove the cooling fan and shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustrations and tables.
