Transmission Support Crossmember: Removal

  1. Position the vehicle on a hoist. Place in NEUTRAL. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
  2. Disconnect the RH HO2S sensor connector.

  3. Disconnect the RH catalyst monitor connector.

  4. Remove the bolts from the RH exhaust flange.

  5. Loosen the exhaust clamp and remove the RH exhaust pipe.

  6. Disconnect the LH HO2S sensor connector.

  7. Disconnect the LH catalyst monitor connector.

  8. Remove the bolts from the LH exhaust flange.

  9. Loosen the exhaust clamp and remove the LH exhaust pipe.

  10. Remove the rear transmission insulator nuts.

  11. Install a suitable transmission jack.
  12. Remove the RH side crossmember bolts.

  13. Remove the LH side crossmember bolts.

  14. Remove the bolts and remove the parking brake cable bracket and position aside.

  15. NOTE: The crossmember is a press fit in the crossmember pocket, it may be necessary to pry the crossmember out of the crossmember pocket. Be careful not to damage the crossmember.

  16. Lower the RH side of the crossmember.
  17. NOTE: The crossmember is a press fit in the crossmember pocket, it may be necessary to pry the crossmember out of the crossmember pocket. Be careful not to damage the crossmember.

  18. Lower the LH side of the crossmember and remove the crossmember.
