Trouble Shooting

Verify the customer concern by operating the starting system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage. Check battery for state of charge. Check starter for proper mounting. Check battery junction box fuse No. 101 (50-amp). See Fig 1 . Check central junction box fuse No. 26 (5-amp). See Fig 2 . Ensure transmission is fully engaged in Park or Neutral. On models equipped with anti-theft system, ensure anti-theft system is operating properly. See appropriate PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT for additional information. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
