Block Heater

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  2. Raise the vehicle.
  3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  5. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .

Item 2: Block Heater Retaining Screw Removal Note 

    CAUTION: Do not loosen the block heater retaining screw more than necessary for removal.
  1. Loosen the block heater retaining screw.

Item 3: Block Heater Installation Note 

  1. Clean and inspect the engine block mating surface before installing the block heater. Lubricate the block heater seal and the cylinder block hole with clean engine coolant to ease installation.

Item 1: Block Heater Power Cable Installation Note 

  1. Make sure the power cable is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components or damage to the cable can occur.
