Shift Indicator

  1. Remove the lower steering column opening finish panel. Remove the screw and position the parking brake release handle out of the way. See Fig 1 . Remove the screw from the lower steering column opening finish panel.
  2. Pull outward to release the retaining clips and remove the lower steering column opening finish panel. Remove the 5 screws and the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement. See Fig 2 .
  3. Rotate the gearshift lever clockwise until it bottoms out (1st gear), then rotate it counterclockwise 2 detents (Drive position). Hang a 3 lb. (1.4 kg) weight on the gearshift lever.
  4. Rotate the thumbwheel to center the selector lever indicator in the middle of the Drive position. See Fig 3 . Remove the 3 lb. (1.4 kg) weight. Rotate the gearshift lever into each detent to verify that the gearshift lever indicator matches the selected range.
  5. Readjust, if necessary. Install the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement. See Fig 2 . Install the lower steering column opening finish panel and parking brake release handle. See Fig 1 .
