Trouble Shooting

Verify the customer concern by operating the starting system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage. Check battery for state of charge. Check starter for proper mounting. Check battery junction box fuses No. 1 (50-amp) and No. 21 (15-amp). See Figure. Check central junction box fuse No. 26 (5-amp). See Figure. Ensure transmission is fully engaged in Park or Neutral. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
