TEST B: DTCs B1990 & B1991 PEDAL FORWARD/REARWARD FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FAULT

  1. If DTCs B1990 or B1991 are retrieved, go to step  10. If DTCs B1990 or B1991 are not retrieved, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC connector. Following scan tool manufacturers instructions, monitor DSM PIDs MEM1_SW, MEM2_SW, and MEMS_SW, while operating memory switch. If the PID values agree with the switch positions, go to step  9. If PID values do not agree with switch positions, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect memory set switch harness connector C503 and carry out memory set switch test. See COMPONENT TESTS . If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is not okay, replace memory set switch and test system operation. See MEMORY SET SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Measure voltage between memory set switch harness connector C503 terminal No. 6 (Orange/Light Green wire) and ground. See Fig 2. If battery voltage is present, go to next step, If battery voltage is not present, check fuse No. 4 (7.5-amp) in Central Junction Box. If fuse is okay, repair open in Orange/Light Green wire and test system operation. If fuse is not okay, replace fuse and test system operation, if fuse blows again, repair short to ground in Orange/Light Green wire and test system operation.
  5. Measure resistance between harness connector C503 terminal No. 9 (Black/Light Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire and test system operation.
  6. Disconnect DSM harness connector C357. Measure voltage between harness connector C503 terminals No. 1 (Brown/Orange wire), No. 3 (Black/Orange wire), No. 4 (Brown/Light Green wire) and No. 8 (White/Orange wire) and ground. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in appropriate wire and test system operation. If no voltage is present, go to next step.
  7. Measure resistance between harness connector C503 terminals No. 1 (Brown/Orange wire), No. 3 (Black/Orange wire), No. 4 (Brown/Light Green wire) and No. 8 (White/Orange wire) and ground. If all resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground on appropriate wire and test system operation.
  8. Disconnect DSM harness connector C356. Measure resistance between harness connectors C503 and C356 as specified in MEASURING RESISTANCES BETWEEN C503 & C356  table.
    MEASURING RESISTANCES BETWEEN C503 & C356

Memory Set Switch C503 Terminal No. (1) Wire Color (2) DSM C356 Terminal No.
    1 Brown/Orange Wire 3
    3 Black/Orange Wire 15
    4 Brown/Light Green Wire 16
    8 White/Orange Wire 13
    (1) See Fig 2 for connector view.
    (2) See Fig 3 for connector view.

If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace DSM and test system operation. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation.

  9. Using adjustable pedals switch, move pedals to the middle position. Monitor DSM PID PDL_POS while moving adjustable pedals switch forward and rearward. If PID value increases with forward movement and decreases with rearward movement, replace DSM and test the system operation. See DRIVER SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If PID value does not increase with forward movement and decrease with rearward movement, go to next step.
  10. Disconnect DSM harness connector C351. Disconnect adjustable pedals motor harness connector C2001. Measure voltage between harness connector C2001 terminals No. 1 (Orange/White wire), No. 2 (Light Blue/Yellow wire) and No. 3 (Orange/Red wire) and ground. See Fig 1. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in appropriate wire and test system operation. If no voltage is present, go to next step.
  11. Measure resistance between harness connector C2001 terminals No. 1 (Orange/White wire), No. 2 (Light Blue/Yellow wire) and No. 3 (Orange/Red wire) and ground. See Fig 1. If all resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire and test system operation.
  12. Measure resistance between harness connector C351 and C2001 as specified in MEASURING RESISTANCE BETWEEN C351 & C2001  table.
    MEASURING RESISTANCE BETWEEN C351 & C2001

DSM C351 Terminal No. (1) Wire Color (2) APS Motor C2001 Terminal No.
    1 Orange/Red Wire 3
    3 Orange/White Wire 1
    15 Light Blue/Yellow Wire 2
    (1) See Fig 4 for connector view.
    (2) See Fig 1 for connector view.

If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation.

  13. Disconnect adjustable pedals motor harness connector C2001. Using 2 10-amp fused jumper wires, connect harness connector C2001 terminal No. 6 (Light Blue/Black wire) to battery voltage and harness connector C2001 terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/Orange wire) to battery ground. See Fig 1. Verify motor operation. Reverse connections at battery and verify motor operation. If motor operates in one direction with battery connections made and operates in the opposite direction when connections are reversed, replace DSM and test system operation. See DRIVER SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If motor does not operation in one direction with battery connections made and does not operate in the opposite direction when connections are reversed, replace adjustable pedals motor and test system operation. See ADJUSTABLE PEDALS MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
