Camshaft Runout: Procedure

NOTE: Camshaft journals must be within specifications before checking runout.

Use a Dial Indicator Gauge with Holding Fixture to measure the camshaft runout.
- Rotate the camshaft and subtract the lowest indicator reading from the highest indicator reading.
- For additional information, refer to GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS for Expedition or GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS for Navigator.
- If out of specification, install new components as necessary. For the procedure, refer to ENGINE - 4.6L AND 5.4L (2V) for Expedition or ENGINE 5.4L (4V) for Navigator.
