Description & Operation

The Adjustable Pedals System (APS) allows the driver to adjust the brake and accelerator pedals for a more comfortable driving position. The APS consists of an adjustable pedal assembly, adjustable pedals switch, adjustable pedals motor, brake pedal-to-accelerator pedal cable, Driver Seat Module (DSM) on models with memory seats only, and associated wiring. From the adjustable pedals switch, the driver can adjust the brake and accelerator pedals forward or rearward.

On vehicles with memory APS, the DSM supplies power to the APS motor while switch is depressed or until full travel is reached. The driver can program up to 3 preset pedal positions. Once programmed, the driver can recall the preprogrammed positions by using the memory switches located on the driver door or the remote keyless entry transmitter. When memory position is selected the driver power seat and outside rear view mirrors are also moved to their preprogrammed positions.

To recall a memory position, press one or both of the memory switches. Pressing 1 will move pedals, seat and mirrors to positions stored in memory location No. 1. Pressing 2 will recall positions stored in memory location No. 2. Pressing both 1 and 2 will recall positions stored in memory location No. 3. The remote keyless entry transmitters are assigned memory personality numbers by the manufacturer. Each transmitter has its assigned memory number on the back of the transmitter. Using the transmitter No. 1 will only recall memory position No. 1, and transmitters No. 2 and 3 will only recall memory positions No. 2 and 3 respectively.
