Test Ar: FOGLIGHTS Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove Underhood Auxiliary Junction Box (UAJB) fuse No. 103 (15-amp). UAJB is located at right front corner of engine compartment. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and UAJB fuse No. 103 input terminal (power supply). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power supply to UAJB. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Remove foglight relay C1007 from UAJB. Test foglight relay. See FOGLIGHT RELAY under COMPONENT TESTS. If foglight relay is okay, go to next step. If foglight relay is defective, replace foglight relay.
- Measure voltage between ground and foglight relay C1007 socket cavities No. 1 and No. 3 (both Red wires). See Figure . If battery voltage exists at both cavities, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at either terminal, repair open in appropriate Red wire between light relay and fog UAJB.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Front Electronic Module (FEM) 12-pin harness connector C201c. FEM is located behind driver's side kick panel. See Figure . Measure resistance of Black/Green wire between foglight relay C1007 socket cavity No. 2 and FEM harness connector C201c terminal No. 5. See Figure and Figure . If less than 5 ohms exists, go to next step. If 5 ohms or more exists, repair open or high resistance in Black/Green wire.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and foglight relay socket cavity No. 2 (Black/Green wire). If battery voltage exists, reinstall foglight relay and go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Green wire front electronic module and foglight relay.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left front foglight 2-pin harness connector C152. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn headlights on. Turn foglights on. Measure voltage between ground and left front foglight relay socket cavity No. 2 (Red/White wire). If battery voltage exists, replace FEM. See FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/White wire between appropriate fog light and fog light relay.
