Compass Calibration
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Town Car. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Start the vehicle and locate the compass module mounted on the base of the mirror.
- Press the button located on the compass sensor module gently for between four and eight seconds until CIRCLE SLOWLY and a direction are displayed on the message center and release the button.
- Release the button and drive slowly in a circle at no more than 5 km/h (3 mph) until CIRCLE SLOWLY no longer appears on the display.
NOTE:
For optimum calibration, drive to an open, level location away from large metallic objects or structures. Switch off all non-essential electrical accessories (rear window defrost, heater, A/C, map lamps, wipers, etc.) and make sure all the doors are shut.
NOTE:
To exit the calibration mode before carrying out a compass adjustment, turn the ignition switch of the OFF position.
NOTE:
If the CIRCLE SLOWLY indicator does not turn off after the vehicle has been driven in a circle five times, demagnetize the vehicle and repeat the procedure.
