Test C: No Communication With Driver's Door Module

NOTE: Cycle ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position to enable Switched System Power (SSP) feature.
WARNING: Vehicle may be equipped with side air bags and seat belt pretensioners. Before testing or repairing power seat system, disable restraint system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - LS article. For any diagnostic or service to power seats equipped with side air bags, use Air Bag Simulators (418-133). Air bag simulators must be installed to air bag floor harness connector, and removed prior to operating vehicle. For any diagnostic or service to power seats equipped with seat belt pretensioners, use Pretensioners Simulators (418-F088). Pretensioners simulators must be installed to pretensioners floor harness connector, and removed prior to operating vehicle.
NOTE: After any repairs are complete, ensure all component are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly and repeat data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) 12-pin harness connector C501a. DDM is located behind driver's door panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DDM harness connector C501a terminal No. 11 (Orange wire). See Fig 1 . Measure voltage between ground and DDM harness connector C501a terminal No. 12 (Orange/Blue wire). If voltage is 10 volts or more at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts at either terminal, repair open or short to ground in appropriate power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and DDM harness connector C501a terminal No. 7 (Brown/Blue wire). Measure resistance between ground and DDM harness connector C501aterminal No. 8 (Black/Orange wire). If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair module communication concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If either resistances are 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire(s) between DDM and ground. Ground point is located behind driver's side kick panel near front electronic module. See GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
