Test P: Panic Feature Inoperative

NOTE: Ignition switch must be cycled from LOCK to RUN position to enable Switched System Power (SSP) feature. Always enable SSP feature before proceeding with test procedures.
  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Monitor Front Electronic Module (FEM) PID AL_1. Press PANIC button on remote transmitter. If FEM PID does not display PANIC, go to next step. If FEM PID displays PANIC, see ACTIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - LS article.
  2. Using NGS tester, monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing luggage compartment lid release button on remote transmitter. If last data received does not indicate TRUNK, go to next step. If last data received displays TRUNK, replace DDM. See DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Install a NEW battery into remote transmitter. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing luggage compartment lid release button on remote transmitter. If last data received does not display TRUNK, go to next step. If last data received displays TRUNK, fault was caused by a weak remote transmitter battery. Recheck system operation.
  4. Program remote transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing luggage compartment lid release button on remote transmitter. If last data received displays TRUNK, transmitter was not programmed to system. Recheck system operation. If last data received does not display TRUNK, program a NEW remote transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Recheck system operation.
