Test N: AUTOLOCK Does Not Operate Properly
NOTE:
Ignition switch must be cycled from LOCK to RUN position to enable Switched System Power (SSP) feature. Always enable SSP feature before proceeding with test procedures.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Perform Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test. Retrieve FEM DTCs. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If DTC U1041 exists, see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If DTC U1059 exists, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If any other DTCs exists, see FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Close all doors and luggage compartment lid. Using NGS tester, monitor FEM driver's door ajar PID D_DOOR. If PID does not display AJAR, go to next step. If PID displays AJAR, repair door ajar circuit(s) as necessary. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - LS article.
- Monitor FEM passenger door ajar PID P_DOOR. If PID displays AJAR, repair door ajar circuit(s) as necessary. If PID does not display AJAR, go to next step. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - LS article.
- Monitor REM LR door ajar PID LRDR_SW. If PID does not display AJAR, go to next step. If PID displays AJAR, repair door ajar circuit(s) as necessary. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - LS article.
- Monitor REM RR door ajar PID RRDR_SW. If PID does not display AJAR, go to next step. If PID displays AJAR, repair door ajar circuit(s) as necessary. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - LS article.
- Monitor REM luggage compartment lid PID DECKLID. If PID does not display AJAR, go to next step. If PID displays AJAR, repair luggage compartment ajar circuit(s) as necessary. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - LS article.
- Monitor FEM ignition switch PID IGN_R. If PID displays YES, replace Driver's Door Module (DDM). See DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If PID does not display YES, repair ignition circuit(s) as necessary. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - LS article.
