Test L: Doors Do Not Lock Using Remote Transmitter

NOTE: Ignition switch must be cycled from LOCK to RUN position to enable Switched System Power (SSP) feature. Always enable SSP feature before proceeding with test procedures.
  1. Operate power door locks using driver's door lock control switch. If doors lock and unlock, go to next step. If doors do not lock and/or unlock, see TEST C: ALL DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE USING DRIVER'S DOOR SWITCH  .
  2. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote transmitter. If data received does not indicate LOCK and UNLOCK, go to next step. If data received indicates LOCK and UNLOCK, replace DDM. See DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Install NEW battery in remote transmitter. Monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote transmitter. If data received does not indicate LOCK and UNLOCK, go to next step. If data received indicates LOCK and UNLOCK, test other remote transmitter functions. If all functions operate properly, system is okay at this time.
  4. Program transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Using NGS tester, monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote transmitter. If data received indicates LOCK and UNLOCK, transmitter was not programmed. System is okay at this time. If data received does not indicate LOCK and UNLOCK, replace remote transmitter. Recheck system operation.
