Test H: Easy Exit/Entry Feature Inoperative
CAUTION:
If equipped with seat mounted air bags, deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - CONTINENTAL article.
NOTE:
Air Bag Simulators (105-R0012) must be installed under seats in side air bag to floor, and removed prior to operating vehicle. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety codes.
- Ensure transmission is in Park. Using driver's seat control switch, operate seat in all directions. If seat operates properly in all directions, go to next step. If seat does not operate properly, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Select easy entry/exit feature on Virtual Image Cluster (VIC) message center. See MESSAGE CENTER under OPERATION. If easy exit/entry feature is enabled, go to next step. If easy exit/entry feature is not enabled, enable feature and recheck system. If feature operates properly, inform customer on proper operation. If feature is still inoperative, go to next step.
- Position seat in center of travel. Remove key from ignition. If seat does not move rearward approximately 2" (51 mm), go to next step. If seat moves rearward approximately 2" (51 mm), go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, leaving key in ignition. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, monitor Lighting Control Module (LCM) PID IGN_KEY. Remove key while observing LCM PID IGN_KEY. If PID indicates OUT when key is removed, go to next step. If PID does not indicate OUT when key is removed, perform TEST AA: KEY-IN-IGNITION CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY under SYSTEM TESTS in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONTINENTAL article.
- Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Seat Module (DSM) self-test. If no DTCs are retrieved, replace DSM. If DTC U1135 is retrieved, repair LCM DTC related malfunction. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONTINENTAL article.
- Insert key into ignition. If driver's seat does not move forward approximately 2" (51 mm), go to next step. If driver's seat moves forward approximately 2" (51 mm), system is okay at this time.
- Retrieve and record LCM related DTCs. Clear LCM DTCs. Perform LCM self-test. If any LCM related DTC exists, diagnosis DTC as necessary. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CONTINENTAL article. If no LCM related DTCs exist, replace DSM.
NOTE:
DSM DTC U1135 is caused because DSM is not receiving ignition switch signal from LCM over bus communication circuit.
