Test E: Reverse Tilt Feature Inoperative

  1. Operate both mirror through all positions. If both mirrors operate properly, go to next step. If both mirrors do not operate properly, repair mirrors as necessary. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Select REVERSE MIRRORS feature on message center. If REVERSE MIRROR feature is enabled, go to next step. If REVERSE MIRROR feature is not enabled, enable feature and inform customer of proper operation.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Set parking brake. Place gear selector in Reverse. Wait 15 seconds then place transmission in Park. If mirrors do not move down when in Reverse and return to pervious position when returned to Park, go to next step. If mirrors move down when in Reverse and return to pervious position when returned to Park, system is okay at this time.
  4. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Seat Module (DSM) self-test. If no DTCs exist, replace DSM. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test. See REVERSE TILT FEATURE TEST  table.
