With Memory

A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required to test the power seat system. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located below instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostics test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article. If NGS tester responds with CKT194 or CKT915=ALL MODULE NO RESP/NOTEQUIP, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article. If NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for DSM, perform TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER'S SEAT MODULE (DSM)  . If NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for DDM, perform TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM)  .

If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform DDM and DSM self-test. Perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DRIVER'S SEAT MODULE DTC INDEX  and/or DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX  table. Codes listed in these tables are only for testing covered in this article. For complete DTC listing, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article. If no DTCs are retrieved, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.

(2) Using NGS tester, retrieve and document all continuous. Perform DSM self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, replace DSM.
