Test A: No Communication With Speed Control Servo

  1. On 1999 models, check condition of fuse No. 8 (10-amp) in Central Junction Box (CJB). On 2000 models, check condition of fuse No. 8 (10-amp) in CJB. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest system operation. If fuse fails again, repair short to ground in White/Violet wire.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect speed control servo harness connector C123 (located in left rear of engine compartment). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 7 (White/Violet wire) at speed control servo harness connector C123. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White/Violet wire.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (Pink/Orange wire) at speed control servo harness connector C123. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair communication concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Pink/Orange wire.
