Description & Operation: Notes

WARNING: LS is equipped with driver's and passenger's side air bags. Before testing or repairing power seat system, disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - LS article. For any diagnostic or service to power seats equipped with side air bags, use Air Bag Simulators (418-133). Air bag simulators must be installed to air bag floor connector, and removed prior to operating vehicle.

The power seats provide horizontal, vertical, recline, tilt and lumbar support adjustments. Seat control switches are mounted on the side of the seat trim panel. A lumbar support pad can be inflated by a separate pump controlled by a switch. Optional memory seat feature provides 2 programmable seat adjustment settings for the driver's seat. Heated seats are optional and only operate when ignition switch is in RUN position. Temperature is controlled by an adjustable switch located on front door trim panels.

Memory system automatically positions driver's seat, outside rear view mirrors, and steering column to two programmable positions. Positions can be recalled by memory set switch located on driver's door or remote keyless entry transmitter. Memory system is controlled by Driver's Seat Module (DSM) and Driver's Door Module (DDM).

Major components of the power seat system are the seat motor and drive assembly, control switches, driver's seat module, lumbar support pad, lumbar support pump and a memory set switch. A separate motor and drive mechanism provides recline adjustment.
