Test P: Panic Feature Inoperative

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester following manufacturers instructions. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Monitor FEM PID AL_1. Press PANIC button on remote transmitter. If FEM PID displays PANIC, see ACTIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - LS article. If FEM PID does not display PANIC, go to next step.
  2. Monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing luggage compartment lid release button on remote transmitter. If last data received displays TRUNK, replace DDM. See DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If last data received does not indicate TRUNK, go to next step.
  3. Install a NEW battery into remote transmitter. Monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing luggage compartment lid release button on remote transmitter. If last data received displays TRUNK, fault was caused by a weak remote transmitter battery. Recheck system operation. If last data received does not display TRUNK, go to next step.
  4. Program remote transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Monitor DDM FUNCTION TEST TIC/DATA while pressing luggage compartment lid release button on remote transmitter. If last data received displays TRUNK, transmitter was not programmed to system. Recheck system operation. If last data received does not display TRUNK, program a NEW remote transmitter. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER  under PROGRAMMING. Recheck system operation.
