Test A: No Communication With Powertrain Control Module

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory system may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector C175a. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between PCM harness connector C175a terminal No. 32 (Green/Yellow wire) and ground. Measure voltage between PCM harness connector C175a terminal and No. 33 (Green/Orange) wire and ground. See Fig 1 . If voltages are greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are less than 10 volts, repair open or short in Green/Yellow and/or Green/Orange wires as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and PCM harness connector C175a terminals No. 24 (Black/Yellow wire), 25 (Black/Red wire), 26 (Black/Red wire), 27 (Black/Red wire) and 43 (Brown/Yellow wire). If resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair module communication concern. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in wires as necessary.
