Erase All Keys & Program 2 Keys

CAUTION: This procedure will erase all programmed ignition keys from vehicles memory and vehicle will not start until at least 2 ignition keys have been programmed.
NOTE: This procedure is to be used when a customer needs keys programmed into system and does not have 2 programmed ignition keys. This procedure is also used when a new ignition switch has been installed. After 2 ignition keys are programmed, see PROGRAMMING USING 2 PROGRAMMED KEYS  to program any additional keys.
  1. Ensure 2 Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) keys are available and both operate ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to START position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Follow service access procedure to obtain security access. See SECURITY ACCESS  .
  2. Select IGNITION KEY CODE ERASE on NGS tester. DO NOT select any additional commands from this menu. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect NGS tester. Install first key to be programmed in ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds then back to OFF position and remove key. Within 5 seconds insert second ignition key to be programmed into ignition switch and turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove key. Vehicle should now start with both these keys. If any additional keys are to be programmed, see PROGRAMMING USING 2 PROGRAMMED KEYS  .
