Test N: No Communication With HEC Module

  1. Check fuse junction panel fuses No. 12 (15-amp), No. 19 (10-amp) and No. 4 (7.5-amp). If fuses are okay, go to next step. If fuses are not okay, replace failed fuse(s). Retest system for normal operation. If fuse fails again, check for short-to-ground. Repair as needed. Restore vehicle, clear DTCs and retest system.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect HEC connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and HEC connector pins No. 7 (Red/White), No. 9 (Gray/Yellow) and No. 8 (Red/Light Green). If voltages are more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are not more than 10 volts, repair circuit(s) in question. Restore vehicle, clear DTCs and retest system.
  3. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and HEC connector pins No. 3 (Black) and No. 10 (Black). If resistances are less than 5 ohms, check are restore any ground points. If resistances are 5 ohms or more, repair Black wire circuit in question. Restore vehicle, clear DTCs and retest system.
