Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect positive battery cable. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Adjust steering wheel to lowest position and remove tilt lever. See Figure . Remove lock cylinder. See LOCK CYLINDER (FUNCTIONAL)  or LOCK CYLINDER (NON-FUNCTIONAL)  .
  2. Remove upper and lower shrouds. Remove multifunction switch from housing. Remove wiring harness retainer and disconnect electrical connectors from multifunction switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
