DTC C1233: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Input Missing
NOTE:
Wheel speed sensor may also be referred to as brake sensor.
- Check Signal Input
Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester (007-00500) to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under dash, on right side of steering column. Turn ignition on. Clear all DTCs. Turn ignition off and then turn ignition on. Select PIDs LF_WSPD and RF_WSPD. Test drive vehicle for 10 miles. If PID readings remain about the same, go to next step. If PID readings change significantly, go to step 3). - Check For DTC(s)
Ensure all connectors are properly connected. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester (007-00500), clear DTC(s). Turn ignition off, then turn ignition on. Perform ABS self-test. See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST under DIAGNOSIS. Retrieve all stored DTC(s). If DTC C1233 is retrieved, replace ABS control module. If DTC C1233 is not retrieved, check for loose left front wheel speed sensor connection or improper mounting. Correct as necessary. After repair, retest system. - Check Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor
Check left front wheel speed sensor for excessive dirt accumulation, obvious damage, metal particle obstruction or improper mounting. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair or replace as necessary. - Check Left Front ABS Sensor Toothed Indicator Ring
Inspect left front ABS toothed indicator ring (located on wheel hub) for corrosion, bridged teeth or damaged teeth. Check for proper indicator ring/sensor alignment. Repair or replace as necessary. Ensure all component connections are clean and tight. After service, retest system.
