DTC C1175: Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Circuit Failure

NOTE: Wheel speed sensor may also be referred to as brake sensor.

  1. Check Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor

Disconnect left rear wheel speed sensor. Measure resistance between speed sensor terminals. If resistance is 800-1400 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1400 ohms, replace left rear wheel speed sensor and retest system.
  2. Check For Shorted Sensor

Measure resistance between speed sensor terminal No. 1 and ground. See Figure . If reading is infinite, go to next step. If reading is not infinite, replace left rear wheel speed sensor and retest system.
  3. Check Wheel Speed Sensor Circuitry

Reconnect left rear wheel speed sensor connector. Disconnect ABS control module connector. Connect Breakout Box (014-00322) and ABS Adapter (T90P-50-ALA). Measure resistance between breakout box test terminals No. 2 and 10. If resistance is 800-1400 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1400 ohms, go to step 7).
  4. Check Light Green/Red Wire For Short To Ground

Measure resistance between breakout box test terminals No. 8 and 10. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step 6).
  5. Check Light Green/Black Wire For Short To Ground

Disconnect left rear wheel speed sensor connector. Measure resistance between breakout box test terminals No. 8 and 10. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Black wire.
  6. Check For DTC(s)

Ensure all connectors are properly connected. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester (007-00500), clear DTC(s). Turn ignition off, then turn ignition on. Perform ABS self-test. See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST  under DIAGNOSIS. Retrieve all stored DTC(s). If DTC C1175 is retrieved, replace ABS control module. If DTC C1175 is not retrieved, check all connections for corrosion, bent terminals or loose connections. Correct any condition which may cause intermittent failure. After repair, retest system.
  7. Check Light Green/Red Wire For Short To Battery

Measure voltage between breakout box terminals No. 8 and 10. If any voltage is indicated, go to next step. If no voltage is indicated, go to step 9).
  8. Check Light Green/Black Wire For Short To Battery

Disconnect left rear wheel speed sensor. Measure voltage between breakout box terminals No. 8 and 10. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to battery power in Light Green/Red wire. If no voltage is indicated, repair short to battery power in Light Green/Black wire. After repair, retest system.
  9. Check Light Green/Red Wire For Open

Measure resistance between breakout box terminal No. 10 and Light Green/Red wire terminal of left rear wheel speed sensor connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Red wire and retest system.
  10. Check Light Green/Black Wire For Open

Measure resistance between breakout box terminal No. 2 and Light Green/Black wire terminal of left rear wheel speed sensor connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short between Light Green/Red wire and Light Green/Black wire in left rear wheel speed sensor circuit. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Black wire. After repair, retest system.
