Test P: Heated Mirror Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition on. Turn defogger on. If rear window defogger works, go to next step. If rear window defogger does not work, see the DEFOGGER - REAR WINDOW article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove and check Fuse 30 (10 Amp). If fuse is okay, go to step 6). If fuse is bad, go to next step.
  3. Check continuity between Fuse 30 terminal and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, replace fuse and retest.
  4. Disconnect left mirror connector C509. Check continuity between Fuse 30 terminal and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, replace mirror glass and retest.
  5. Disconnect right mirror connector C600. Check continuity between Fuse 30 terminal and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, repair Dark Green/Purple wire short to ground and retest. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, replace mirror glass and retest.
  6. Remove Fuse 30. turn ignition on. Turn defogger on. Check voltage at fuse 30 terminal. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Brown/Light Blue wire and retest.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect left mirror connector C509. Check continuity between connector C509 terminal No. 5 (Dark Green/Purple wire) and fuse 30 terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Dark Green/Purple wire and retest.
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect left mirror connector C509. Check continuity between connector C509 terminal No. 5 (Dark Green/Purple wire) and fuse 30 terminal. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Dark Green/Purple wire and retest. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, check both mirrors for heat. If left mirror does not heat, go to next step. If right mirror does not heat, go to step 10).
  9. Check continuity between left mirror connector C509 terminal No. 17 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace mirror glass and retest. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire and retest.
  10. Check continuity between right mirror connector C600 terminal No. 17 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace mirror glass and retest. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire and retest.
