Test Procedure

  1. Check For Accessory Drive Belt Noise

    Check drive belt to make sure that it is installed properly and is not damaged. If drive belt is okay, then go to next step. If drive belt is damaged, replace belt and retest system for normal operation. See COOLING SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING article.
  2. Check Generator Mounting

    Check generator and generator mounting bracket for loose bolts or misalignment condition. Is generator mounted correctly? If yes, then go to next step. If not then install generator correctly and tighten fasteners to specifications. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system for normal operation.
  3. Check Generator Pulley

    Check generator pulley, check generator pulley for damage (bent) or a misalignment condition. Is pulley OK? If yes, and noise is still present, replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If not, then remove and replace generator pulley.
