Pinpoint Test F - Panic Alarm Does Not Work
NOTE:
Ensure battery is fully charged before performing this test.
- Attempt to turn parking lights on with headlight switch. If parking lights come on, go to next step. If parking lights do not come on, go to step 5). If parking lights are always on, go to step 7).
- Unplug RKEM connector C1. Test for continuity between connector C1 pin No. 24 (White/Purple wire) and automatic headlight relay. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair White/Purple wire.
- Unplug RKEM connector C1. Test for continuity between connector C1 pin No. 13 (Orange wire) and fuse block. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open Orange wire.
- Measure voltage at connector C1 pin No. 13 (Orange wire). If voltage is at least 10 volts, go to step 9). If voltage is not at least 10 volts, repair open or short in Orange wire.
- Test parking light and automatic headlight relay. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Replace relay as necessary. If relay is okay, go to next step.
- Inspect fuse No. 4. Replace as necessary, then go to PINPOINT TEST A. If fuse is okay, repair open or short in Orange wire.
- Unplug RKEM connector C1. If parking lights do not go off, go to next step. If parking lights go off, temporarily substitute known good RKEM, then retest system.
- Unplug headlight switch and RKEM connector C1. If parking lights go off, replace headlight switch. If parking lights do not go off, repair short to voltage on Orange wire, or repair automatic headlight circuit. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
- Press horn switch. If horn sounds, go to next step. If horn does not sound, go to step 11). If horn is always on, go to step 13).
- Unplug RKEM connector C1. Test Yellow/Light Green wire for continuity between connector C1 pin No. 26 and horn relay. If continuity exists, temporarily substitute known good RKEM, then retest system. If continuity does not exist, repair Yellow/Light Green wire.
- Test horn relay and horn circuitry. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. If horn is okay, go to next step. Repair horn circuitry as necessary.
- Inspect fuse No. 10. Replace as necessary. If fuse is okay, repair Yellow/Light Green wire between fuse panel and RKEM.
- Unplug RKEM connector C1. If horn does not shut off, go to next step. If horn shuts off, temporarily substitute known good RKEM, then retest system.
- Unplug horn switch and RKEM connector C1. If horn shuts off, replace horn switch. If horn does not shut off, repair short to ground on Yellow/Light Green wire or repair horn relay circuit.
