Pinpoint Test JH

  1. Ensure brake fluid is at proper level. Turn ignition on. Check EIC for warning. If warning never comes on, go to next step. If warning is always on, go to step 5).
  2. Turn ignition off. Unplug connector at brake fluid switch. Connect jumper wire between Pink/White wire at switch harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on. If brake warning comes on, go to next step. If warning does not come on, go to step 4).
  3. Check Pink/White wire at switch harness connector for continuity to EIC. Check Black wire at switch harness connector for continuity to ground. Check Light Green/Red wire at switch harness connector for continuity to parking brake switch. If continuity exists for all wires, replace brake fluid level switch. Repair any wire which is open.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect jumper wire. Set transmission selector lever to Park position. Release parking brake. Unplug connectors from EIC. Check Pink/White wire for continuity between EIC and brake fluid level switch. If continuity exists, check warning bulb. If bulb is okay, check for battery voltage at terminal No. 4 (Red/Yellow wire) at 14-pin EIC connector. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Red/Yellow wire from fuse block.
  5. Turn ignition off. Set transmission selector lever to Park position. Release parking brake. Unplug connector at brake fluid level switch. Turn ignition on. If brake warning does not come on, go to next step. If brake warning comes on, repair short to ground on Pink/White wire between brake fluid level switch and EIC.
  6. Check for short to ground on Light Green/Red wire between brake fluid level switch and ignition switch, or between brake fluid level switch and daytime running lamps module, or daytime running lamps module jumper, located inn front of left front fender. If no short exists, replace brake fluid level switch.
