Pinpoint Test BC
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove fuel pump and fuel gage sender unit assembly, located in fuel tank. Inspect float arm for binding, misalignment, or other damage. If float assembly is okay, go to next step. Repair any defects as necessary.
- Measure resistance between sending unit terminals (Yellow/White and Pink/Orange wires) while operating float arm. Resistance should be approximately 15 ohms with float arm in empty position, and 160 ohms with float arm in full position. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. Replace sending unit if resistance is not as specified.
- Inspect for open Pink/Orange wire between harness connector and ground. Inspect for open or shorted Yellow/White wire between harness connector and EIC. If wires are okay, go to next step. Repair wiring as necessary.
- Inspect fuel tank for damage. Check for proper installation of filler pipe. Inspect for blockage of emission hoses. Repair as necessary.
