Latch Sensitivity Test

If the functional check cannot be satisfactorily performed, the following sensitivity test must be made prior to replacing "suspect" latch assemblies.

  1. Remove the seat and track assembly from vehicle. See SEAT TRACK  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. For bench seat applications, remove the inboard safety belt attachments.
  2. With the seat and track assembly positioned on a flat surface, grasp only the seat cushion and slowly tilt the seat assembly forward enough to cause the seat back to tilt forward by gravity.
  3. The latch should engage at this point (11 degrees from original seat back position), restricting seat back from tilting to its full forward position.
