Steering Shaft Anti-Rattle Clip: Reassembly

  1. Install new insulator clips on flats of steering column upper shaft. Install both clips facing same direction. Grease lower 6" of upper steering shaft.
  2. Place lower steering shaft into a vise. Aligning marks made during disassembly, install upper shaft into lower shaft. Install upper bearing and retainer plate into lock cylinder housing.
  3. Loosely fasten lock cylinder on steering column tube. Insert steering shaft into tube from top of tube. Install column outer tube to lock cylinder housing.
  4. Tighten 2 lock housing-to-outer tube bolts. Install turn signal and washer/wiper switches. Install shift tube assembly. Install steering column.
