Rear Wheel Sensor: Installation
- Install sensor bracket (if removed). Tighten screws to 11-15 ft. lbs. (15-20 N.m). Loosen 5 mm set screw on sensor and make sure that sensor slides freely on sensor bracket post.
- If a sensor is to be reused, pole face must be clean of all foreign material. Carefully scrape pole face with a dull knife. Glue a new rear paper spacer on pole face (rear paper spacer is marked with an "R").
- Insert sensor into large hole in sensor bracket and install 10 mm hex head retaining bolt into sensor bracket post. Tighten bolt to 40-60 INCH lbs. (4.5-6.8 N.m). Push sensor toward toothed ring until new paper sensor makes contact with sensor ring. Hold sensor against toothed ring and tighten 5 mm set screw to 21-26 INCH lbs. (2.4-3.0 N.m).
- Install caliper and rotor. Push wire and connector through splash shield hole and engage grommet into shield eyelet. Install sensor wire in retainers along axle housing. Push connector through hole in luggage compartment and seat grommet in luggage compartment floor pan.
- From inside luggage compartment, connect cable electrical connector. Install carpet as necessary. Check function of sensor by driving vehicle and observing Check Anti-Lock Brakes (Ford Motor Co.).
