Boost Pressure Test
- Using a Gauge Bar (019-00022 or equivalent), connect a 0-15 psi (0-1 kg/cm2
) pressure gauge with a "T" connector in altitude/boost compensator line at base of intake plenum. See Fig 1
.
CAUTION: DO NOT operate engine under full load condition for more than 30 seconds. After test, place transmission in "NEUTRAL" and run at 1000 RPM for 60 seconds to cool transmission.
- Under a full load condition (brakes applied and drive wheels off ground), briefly run engine at 2500 RPM. If boost pressure stabilized at 10.6-12.6 psi (.75-.89 kg/cm2 ), system is okay. If not, check wastegate diaphragm, turbocharger, safety pressure regulator, and hoses.
