DTC P0526-31: Fan Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal No Signal [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF FAN SPEED SENSOR (FLUID COUPLING ASSEMBLY)) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the fan speed sensor (fluid coupling assembly) connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C165-4 (VCFC) - C165-6 (E1FC) Ignition switch ON 4.5 to 5.5 V
      C165-5 (NCFC) - C165-6 (E1FC) Ignition switch ON 4.5 to 5.5 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. None

  2. REPLACE FAN SPEED SENSOR (FLUID COUPLING ASSEMBLY)

  3. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. None

      Procedure1

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs

    3. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    Result:

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0526-31) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.

      Procedure1

    2. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      P0526-31 is output B

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FAN SPEED SENSOR (FLUID COUPLING ASSEMBLY) - ECM) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the fan speed sensor (fluid coupling assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C165-4 (VCFC) - C37-113 (VCF) Always Below 1 Ω
      C165-5 (NCFC) - C37-108 (NCF) Always Below 1 Ω
      C165-6 (E1FC) - C37-112 (ECF) Always Below 1 Ω
      C165-4 (VCFC) or C37-113 (VCF) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C165-5 (NCFC) or C37-108 (NCF) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
