Utility [10/2023 - ]

  1. UTILITY 

    Chassis > DRS > Utility 

    Tester Display Measurement Item Diagnostic Note
    Rear Steering Motor Drive Mode that drives DRS and checks movement
    • Make sure that the vehicle is lifted up with no load on the rear wheel steering system.
    • Do not perform any other operations in order to prevent excessive external force being applied to the rear wheels when operating.
    Rear Toe Adjustment Mode that keeps the shift state in neutral during rear toe adjustment
    • Make sure that the vehicle is lifted up with no load on the rear wheel steering system.
    • Do not perform any other operations in order to prevent excessive external force being applied to the rear wheels during adjustment.
  2. Rear Toe Adjustment 
    WARNING:
    • Rear toe adjustment uses GTS operation to fully turn the steering wheel to the right and left automatically.
    • During this automatic steering operation, there is NO automated safety stop function if people or objects are caught in the rear axle, etc.
    • When performing rear toe adjustment, operate the GTS from far enough away from the vehicle to avoid being caught in the rear axle or rotating parts.
    • Be careful not to approach the area around the rear axle during Rear toe adjustment.

    • Use the "CAUTION: STEERING IS TURNING. DO NOT APPROACH." sign to notify other technicians that the variable rack gear is undergoing rear toe adjustment.

    NOTE:
    • The actuator is forcibly driven when performing the rear toe adjustment. Therefore, make sure to lift up the vehicle so that the rear wheels can be turned with no load.
    • After adjusting the rear wheel alignment, make sure to complete the rear toe adjustment procedure.
    1. Raise the vehicle and position the tires straight ahead.
    2. Remove the toe control link sub-assembly set.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

      HINT: 

      • When performing calibration again, it is not necessary to remove the toe control link sub-assembly set. However, it is necessary to remove the rear tire.
      • Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. According to the display on the GTS, perform rear toe adjustment.

  3. Rear Steering Motor Drive 
    NOTE:
    • Before driving the rear steering motor, make sure to lift up the vehicle so that the rear wheels can be turned with no load.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is stopped.
    • When the rear steering motor is being driven, do not perform any other operations in order to prevent external force being applied to the rear wheels.
    1. When lifting the vehicle, make sure that the steering is in a neutral position.
    2. Press the P position switch to change the shift state to P.
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    6. According to the display on the GTS, perform rear steering motor drive.
