Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT SHIFT SWITCH STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Sport Shift Up SW Sport shift up switch status ON or OFF
      • ON: Shift lever held in "+" or "+" shift paddle switch operated
      • OFF: Shift lever not held in "+" and "+" shift paddle switch released

      • ON: Shift lever held in "-" or "-" shift paddle switch operated
      • OFF: Shift lever not held in "-" and "-" shift paddle switch released

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the C36 TCM connector.
    2. Disconnect the A36 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C36-14 (SFTU) - A36-28 (ECCS) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 13 Ω
      "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      C36-13 (SFTD) - A36-28 (ECCS) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 13 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
    4. Connect the A36 ECM connector.
    5. Connect the C36 TCM connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A36 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A36-10 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the A36 ECM connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK ECM (ECM TERMINALS) 
    1. Disconnect the A36 ECM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  5. REPLACE TCM

  6. REPLACE ECM 
    1. Replace the ECM.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    PERFORM INITIALIZATION. Refer to  INITIALIZATION [10/2018 - 07/2022] 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - TCM - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C36 TCM connector.
    3. Disconnect the A36 ECM connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C36-14 (SFTU) - F20-8 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      C36-13 (SFTD) - F20-1 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A36-28 (ECCS) - F20-2 (ECC) Always Below 1 Ω
      C36-14 (SFTU) or F20-8 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C36-13 (SFTD) or F20-1 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A36-28 (ECCS) or F20-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Connect the A36 ECM connector.
    6. Connect the C36 TCM connector.
    7. Connect the F20 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - TCM - ECM)

    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

    1. Remove the shift paddle switch LH (transmission shift switch assembly).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A-1 (SDN) - A-2 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 13 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A-1 (SDN) - A-3 (ECC1) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 13 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

    1. Remove the shift paddle switch RH (transmission shift switch assembly).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  11. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the shift paddle switch LH (transmission shift switch assembly) and shift paddle switch RH (transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    2. Disconnect the z3 No. 1 switch wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z3-2 (SUP) - z3-3 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 13 Ω
      "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z3-4 (SDN) - z3-3 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 13 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result
