Removal [11/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Separate the wire harness from the 2 guides of the steering shake damper.

    2. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

    3. Disconnect the connector.

      *a Matchmark

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    5. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.
    6. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.
      • SST: 09950-50013 
        1. 09951-05010
        2. 09952-05010
        3. 09953-05020
        4. 09954-05070

      *a Turn
      *b Hold
      NOTE:

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  6. REMOVE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE STEERING VIBRATION ECU (w/o Steering Heater) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the steering vibration and heater ECU.

  8. REMOVE STEERING VIBRATION AND HEATER ECU (w/ Steering Heater) 

    See step  5

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Disengage the 4 guides to remove the No. 1 switch wire from the lower steering wheel boss cover.

      NOTE:

      If the heater thermistor comes off the lower steering wheel cover, replace the steering wheel assembly.

      HINT: 

      Do not remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly. Loosen the lower steering boss cover.

  10. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER

      Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
