DTC P0462: Fuel Level Sensor "A" Circuit Low; DTC P0463: Fuel Level Sensor "A" Circuit High [03/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY - CONBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U25-2 - O3-27 (FR) Always Below 1 Ω
      U25-2 or O3-27 (FR) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL TANK VENT TUBE ASSEMBLY - CONBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank vent tube assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T18-3 - O3-28 (FE) Always Below 1 Ω
      T18-3 or O3-28 (FE) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY - FUEL TANK VENT TUBE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel suction plate sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the fuel tank vent tube assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U25-3 - T18-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      U25-3 or T18-2 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CONBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O3-31 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    2. Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2014 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    (Fuel Suction Plate Sub-assembly)

    1. Remove the fuel suction tube with pump and gauge sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    2. Disconnect the fuel sender gauge assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U25-2 - A-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      U25-3 - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      U25-2 - U25-3 or A-2 - A-1 Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. INSPECT NO. 2 FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    2. Inspect the No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

  8. INSPECT FUEL TANK VENT TUBE ASSEMBLY

    2. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel sender gauge assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T18-2 - B-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      T18-3 - B-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      T18-2 - T18-3 or B-2 - B-1 Always 10 kΩ or higher
