USB Audio System Recognition/Play Error [11/2017 - 09/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK USB DEVICE OR "iPod" 
    1. Disconnect the USB device or "iPod" from the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.
    2. Check if playable files are present on the USB device or "iPod".

      HINT: 

      Refer to System Description for playable files.

      Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [11/2017 - 03/2019] , or refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [03/2019 - 09/2020]

    3. Check if the USB device is a compatible format or "iPod" is a compatible version.

      HINT: 

      Refer to System Description for compatible formats and versions.

      Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [11/2017 - 03/2019] , or refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [03/2019 - 09/2020]

      No playable files exist, or incompatible device format or version. A
      Playable files exist, and compatible device format or version. B

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 STEREO JACK ADAPTER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the O146 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O151 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O146-2 (GND2) - O151-3 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      O146-3 (+B) - O151-4 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      O146-16 (ACC) - O151-8 (ACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      O146-2 (GND2) or O151-3 (GND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O146-3 (+B) or O151-4 (+B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O146-16 (ACC) or O151-8 (ACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 STEREO JACK ADAPTER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the O165 radio receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the O166 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      O165-1 (USV1) - O166-1 (UPI) Always Below 1 Ω
      O165-2 (US1-) - O166-2 (UDO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      O165-3 (US1+) - O166-3 (UDO+) Always Below 1 Ω

      O165-5 (USG1) - O166-5 (UJSS) Always Below 1 Ω

      O165-2 (US1-) or O166-2 (UDO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O165-3 (US1+) or O166-3 (UDO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (NO. 1 STEREO JACK ADAPTER ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the O166 and O151 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connectors.

      (to No. 1 Stereo Jack Adapter Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O166-1 (UPI) - O166-4 (UJSG) Engine switch on (ACC) 4.5 to 5.5 V
      O151-8 (ACC) - O151-3 (GND) Engine switch on (ACC) 11 to 14 V
      O151-4 (+B) - O151-3 (GND) Always 11 to 14 V

    REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2017 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - ]

  5. FORMAT USB DEVICE OR RESTORE "iPod" AND RECHECK 
    1. Delete all files in the USB device or "iPod" and format/restore it.
    2. Save the data again and check if it can be played on the in-vehicle device.
      NOTE:

      Formatting a USB device or restoring an "iPod" erases all music on the device. Ensure that backup music data is available before performing this operation.

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

  6. REPLACE USB DEVICE OR "iPod" 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

      HINT: 

      When this malfunction occurs, it is necessary to turn the engine switch off to make it possible for the vehicle to recognize a new device when it is connected.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    3. Connect a known good USB device or "iPod" to the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.

      HINT: 

      Result

  7. CHECK USB DEVICE OR "iPod" 
    1. Check if a USB device or "iPod" is recognized by the radio receiver assembly, and if information such as track, artist and album names is displayed on the screen.
