Precaution [09/2014 - 11/2017]
- PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the cable is reconnected.
System Name See Procedure Variable Gear Ratio Steering System Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2014 - 10/2015] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2015 - 11/2017] Parking Assist Monitor System Air Conditioning System - PRECAUTIONS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING
- If the malfunction is due to connectors being loosely connected, or improper installation of parts, reconnecting the connectors or removing and reinstalling the parts may temporarily or completely correct the problem.
- To determine the malfunctioning area, use DTCs, freeze frame data and other data to help determine conditions at the time of the malfunction. Write down the data before disconnecting connectors or removing and installing parts.
- Always check for DTCs from other systems, as problems with other systems may be affecting this system.
- Other systems may store DTCs when the dynamic rear steering (DRS) system is inspected. Therefore, check and clear any DTCs from other systems after inspecting the dynamic rear steering system.
- SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
- Except where otherwise instructed, perform all removal and installation procedures for the DRS ECU (rear steering control ECU), rear steering link assembly, sensors, etc. with the engine switch off.
- After performing removal and installation procedures for the DRS ECU (rear steering control ECU), rear steering link assembly, sensors, etc., check for DTCs and make sure they are normal codes.
- Other systems may store DTCs when the engine switch is turned on (IG) with the connector of the DRS ECU (rear steering control ECU) disconnected. Therefore, after performing repairs, check and clear DTCs for other systems.
- Turn off the remote service function before performing troubleshooting for the dynamic rear steering system.
- CONDITIONS FOR CANCELING DYNAMIC REAR STEERING SYSTEM OPERATION
- In the following conditions, dynamic rear steering system operation is canceled.
- The power source voltage is low or there is overvoltage.
- Parts are overheating (In order to prevent motor and ECU overheating. Once the motor or ECU temperature drops, operation starts.).
- Steering sensor zero point calibration has not been performed.
Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2014 - ]
- In the following conditions, dynamic rear steering system operation is canceled.
- PRECAUTIONS CONCERNING STEERING OFF CENTER
- If the DRS ECU (rear steering control ECU), rear steering link assembly or the rear suspension are removed and installed, replaced, or adjusted, perform neutral position memorization and motor rotation angle sensor calibration, as the steering may have become off-centered.
Refer to CALIBRATION [09/2014 - 09/2020]
- If the dynamic rear steering system cancel conditions are met, the steering may temporarily become off-centered.
- If the DRS ECU (rear steering control ECU), rear steering link assembly or the rear suspension are removed and installed, replaced, or adjusted, perform neutral position memorization and motor rotation angle sensor calibration, as the steering may have become off-centered.
- PRECAUTIONS WHEN PERFORMING STEERING OFF CENTER ADJUSTMENT
- When adjusting the steering off center, always adjust the rear (dynamic rear steering system) steering off center before adjusting the front (variable gear ratio steering [VGRS] system) steering off center.
