DTC B16A1: Pedestrian Protection Sensor Difference [12/2017 - 10/2020]: Procedure

  1. REPLACE PEDESTRIAN DETECTION CHAMBER ASSEMBLY (PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR) 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Replace the pedestrian detection chamber assembly (pedestrian protection sensor) with a new one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2017 - 09/2018] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2018 - 10/2020]

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2017 - 10/2023]

      Body Electrical > Pedestrian Protection > Clear DTCs 

    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2017 - 10/2023]

      Body Electrical > Pedestrian Protection > Trouble Codes

      DTC B16A1 is not output A
      DTC B16A1 is output B

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B16A1 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Result: 

    END (PEDESTRIAN DETECTION CHAMBER ASSEMBLY [PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR] WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    REPLACE PEDESTRIAN DETECTION ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 09/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2018 - 10/2020]
